Director of Business Development

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years business development responsibilities in a fast growing, technology based company, preferably with an emerging, next-generation solution offering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop business opportunities by leveraging strong existing relationships and generating and qualifying new customer leads.
  • Execute on business opportunities and maintain a pipeline large enough to support attainment of objectives.
  • Independently generating sales leads, networking, and closing contracts in sufficient volume to achieve assigned sales goals.
  • Remain current on industry trends, market activities, and competitors.
  • Play an active role in creating and honing the company’s value proposition and the positioning of the company’s solutions to land new business.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the company’s software/technology.
  • Role is based in NYC and will require frequent travel depending on company needs.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 5+ years of consultative sales experience with a technology company
  • 10+ years of professional work experience in a business development, market facing role
  • BA/BS required
  • Intelligent with a passion for and ability to quickly learn about new technologies
  • High energy, self-motivated and passionate about working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Ability to cold call and generate net new leads
  • Comfortable with a dynamic, high change company and industry
  • Strong attention to detail, creative, open-minded, persistent and highly collaborative
  • Proven success with State and Local, preferably Public Safety, customers
  • Understanding of marketing and lead generation process
  • Knowledge and experience using a CRM system
